Slim jewelry—pendant chains, drop earrings, bracelets—hates rolling loose in a bag and scraping itself. The long velvet pouch exists for exactly this: a narrow body that hugs the piece so it will not shift, a plush floor that cushions knocks in transit. The body is velvet. Velvet comes in weights. Too light and you feel straight through it; a metal piece shows its outline. Too heavy and the seam bulges. The ZBD20 uses a mid-weight pile that balances hand-feel with structure. Long pouches also come narrow or wide: the narrow one fits a single bracelet, the wide one takes a short necklace with a pendant; an inner slip pocket for clasps or ear backs is possible, but every added shape pushes the mold and labor up, so it is poor value on a small order. There is a quieter trick in the cloth itself: nap direction. Cut the panels against the grain and the same bag reads light on one face and dark on the other under the counter light, so the old hands align the weave before they cut, or the piece looks like two bags. On the front sits a hot-stamped or embossed brand mark, and this is the step that goes wrong most often—too cool and it will not take, too hot and the pile scorches stiff. Keep it in the workable window, then rub the mark with a fingertip; if it will not rub off, it passes. A bag with a logo is one the customer recognizes at a glance, which is why so many brands spend the extra cents here. The drawstring is what seals it. A tonal woven cord runs through the channel; pull and the mouth closes. The channel mouth needs an overlocked edge, or after a few dozen pulls the cloth frays and the cord jams. The ends need a securing knot, or after a few uses the cord frays out and retracts into the channel, and the bag is spent. The knot cannot be bulky—it digs in the hand and looks clumsy—but it cannot be tiny either, or one tug slips it. The usual fix is a double pass with a dead knot at each end and a dab of glue: it holds without sliding. Some brands cap the cord ends with a tonal wooden bead or a metal ferrule—it weights the knot and adds a finish, but one more step is one more cost. Some buyers save trouble with a single pass and then find the cord will not draw back out; a few yanks and the channel goes fuzzy. Protection lives in the packing. Each pouch first slips into its own OPP dust bag, then the batch goes into a five-layer carton. The OPP blocks dust and damp; in the south, during the humid season, that matters—velvet that drinks moisture stiffens and spots with mold. A five-layer box out-presses a three-layer one, so stacked freight will not crush the bottom carton flat. Some shops skip the individual OPP to save a fraction per unit. It is false economy; one damp week in transit and a whole batch of bags comes up stiff, and the client blames the bag, not the weather. These pouches usually start at a thousand units; small runs will not justify a custom dye, so cream, black and burgundy stay the stock colors. A special shade means extra cost and a wait. Judge a bag by more than its face: turn it over, feel the seam, pull the cord, check the OPP for tears. Pass those three and the bag will last. This is original content.
