A client's first sample run—a thousand pouches, color, foil, drawstring all approved—sells well, then comes back for a reorder. What scares us on a reorder isn't the lead time, it's “not the same as last time.” The buyer holds two batches side by side; a shade off on the velvet, foil half a millimeter shifted, drawstring a touch loose—any of it brings a call. Take the premium microfiber pouch ZBD2. Thickened microfiber, that 80×80×35mm size, cream, black, or burgundy, gold-foil and embossed logo to spec, MOQ 1000, reorder 2000. The first run, we nailed the foil position with the plate room. On reorder, step one is pinning the first-batch foil proof to the production order so the machine registers against it—no letting the operator work from memory. The velvet pouch ZB14 is easier to get wrong. White microfiber velvet, “PANDORA” foiled on the front, same-color woven drawstring. On reorders we pull two from each carton and check letter spacing and nap direction against the proof. Velvet has a grain; cut it backwards and one light angle shows two shades. One such miss and the client returns the whole lot. The octagonal red box ZBH1 is a plastic blank, foil and emboss, flocked lining, MOQ 500, reorder 2000. Boxes are harder on the lid feel. The magnetic strength tuned on the first batch has to be re-checked—not left to drift because a different worker closed it. We keep a first-batch box on the sample rack and open it next to the reorder; wrong tension means rework. Holding consistency on reorders isn't one steady craftsman; it's a “first-batch sample” kept as a ruler at every station. Swatch card, foil proof, box sample—three pinned together, every incoming batch measured against them first. The buyer doesn't care how hard you tried; only that batch two looks like batch one. Plainly, repeat business in custom packaging sells on one word: stability. The first order wins on design; the reorder keeps on consistency. We took a loss once when a velvet supplier swapped a batch and the shade slipped past us; the client used the old stock for the season and the new run sat in our warehouse. Since then, incoming fabric gets a small cut locked with the proof, compared before any reorder. MOQ is its own gate. A small client wanting 500 pouches on reorder—we usually talk them up to 1000; below that the one-time transfer plate and labor don't pencil out. The ZBH1 box only makes sense at 2000. A reorder isn't a shrunken first order; its cost and consistency are a different math.
